The 2005 National S&T Week and Beijing S&T Week were convened in the Haidian Exhibition Hall on the morning of May 14. State Councilor CHEN Zhili delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony. Leaders concerned from the departments of the Joint Session for the national S&T popularization attended the interactive exhibition and the garden party.

The opening ceremony was presided over by HU Zhenmin, Deputy Head of Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee. XU Guanhua, Minister of Science and Technology briefed the attendants on the National S&T Week and DENG Nan, Secretary of the Leading Party Group, China Association for Science and Technology declared the opening of the 2005 National S&T Week and Beijing S&T Week.
