“Study of Coalfield Fire Monitoring through Remote-sensing and Fire Extinguishing Technology”, an international S&T cooperation project between Beijing Normal University and German Aerospace Center, has achieved progress with the development of a set of fire detection and extinguishing technologies suitable for coalfields in Northern China and the set up of a dynamic monitoring and analyzing system for coalfield fires.

The result of this project has been demonstrated in the underground coal fire area of Wuda Coal Mine, Inner Mongolia. Study of remote-sensing detection of abnormal heat in the underground coal fire area and information extraction conducted in accordance with this technical plan can accurately work out the location and distribution range of underground coal fire areas.
