On 17 May, a high-level expert panel discussion on “geoscience methodology” was held in Beijing. The Geographical Society of China briefed the experts and delegates on the research approach and preliminary framework of “Volume of Geoscience Methodology” and “Geographical Methodology”.

It is generally reckoned by the experts that innovation of scientific thinking is a precondition for breakthrough and revolutionary headway in scientific research and innovation of scientific method is the only way to major scientific and technological progress. They agree unanimously that the general thinking of the “Panorama of Scientific Method” and the research approach and preliminary framework of the “Volume of Geoscience Methodology” and “Geographical Methodology” are scientific and feasible and suggest that relevant research work be organized and carried out as soon as possible.
