On 29 May 2007, Vice Minister SHANG Yong of Science and Technology met with Madam Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, Minister of International Relations and Mr. Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade of Quebec Province during his visit to Canada. Vice Minister SHANG Yong and Minister Raymond Bachand jointly announced the establishment of the S&T cooperation fund by MOST and Quebec Provincial Government. The two sides will jointly contribute 1.6 million Canadian dollars (approximately RMB11.5 million) in the next 3 years to support research organizations of both sides to carry out joint research in the sectors of biology, genomics, proteomics, marine science and information & communications technology (ICT).
