On May 26, 2014, Minister Wan Gang met with Dr. France Cordova, Director of American National Science Foundation. The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern - cultural and people-to-people exchanges, talent training and basic research in the sphere of S&T.
Minister Wan pointed out that MOST kept a long-term friendly and cooperative relationship with NSF and conducted various forms of cooperation such as talent exchanges, S&T forums and research projects, which provided important achievements for China-U.S. high-level consultation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges as well as built the platform for scientists and engineers to make friends and deepen cooperation. The two sides hoped that cooperation could be maintained and expanded, thus contributing to bilateral relationship and S&T cooperation.
Director Cordova expressed that NSF will cherish its sound cooperation with China MOST and was willing to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges, talent training and basic research.
Mr. Cai Jianing, counselor of the Department of International Cooperation and Mr. Cao Guoying, DDG from the Department of Basic Research and representatives from American Embassy to China attended the meeting.
