CSTEC Organized Companies to Attend 2016 MIECF

 

On March 31 - April 2, the 2016 Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2016 MIECF) was held in Macau under the auspice of the government of Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR). The event was also launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST), National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The Expo features the theme of “Green Economy - Opportunities for Waste Management”. MOST had its own booth at the exhibition. Macau Chief Executive Fernando Chui and Vice Minister of the Ministry of S&T of China, Dr. Xu Nanping were present at the opening ceremony.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Vice Minister Xu and relevant leaders of Macau SAR visited the MOST booth and listened to the project briefings, encouraging environmental protection businesses to engage in innovation and more cooperation with Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan as well as other countries in the world.

As the organizer and coordinator of the MOST booth, CSTEC organized seven institutions and companies to attend the exhibition, including the mainland Technical Innovation and Strategy Alliance for the Renewable Resources Industry, Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai, and Green Eco-Manufacturer (GEM). Multiple means of publicity and demonstration were utilized including real objects, multimedia and panels, etc. The GEM booth attracted numerous visitors through live demo of Internet-serviced environmental impact monitoring of their workshops. The MOST booth was awarded “Green Booth Award” by the sponsor.

Background information:
Ever since its initiation in 2008, the MIECF has been held for nine times, becoming a green platform. Through an array of activities like green exhibition, green forum, and green open day, the 2016 MIECF promoted business dialogues, technical exchanges and international cooperation in the field of environmental protection. While creating business opportunities, it has helped spread the ideas of environmental protection. In total, 436 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions participated in the forum and exhibition, including the US and European countries. The total area of exhibition was approximately 16,900 square meters.
