On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, MOST held the 1st National Field S&T Work Meeting in Beijing on June 16th, 2009. Member of the Politburo of the CCCPC and the State Councilor LIU Yandong addressed the event. Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Minister of Science and Technology WAN Gang delivered a work report. Party Secretary and Vice-Minister of Science and Technology LI Xueyong chaired the meeting.

LIU Yandong made a call to heads of the cryosphere field station in northern Tibetan Plateau and Zhongshan Station in the Antarctica, and expressed her greetings. LIU and other leaders presented certificates to the individuals and organizations in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the field S&T work.
