The National Grass-root S&T Seminar, organized by MOST, State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, was held on December 28 in Beijing. CPPCC Vice Chairman and MOST Minister WAN Gang and Vice Minister LI Xueyong addressed the event. Representatives from relevant provincial, municipal, and county levels were also present.

The seminar summarized the achievements in grass-root science and technology work, and provided a good opportunity for participants to exchange good ideas and methods in facilitating grass-root science and technology and made plans for the next step of development.

During the seminar, awards were given to 840 outstanding cities and counties in developing science and technology, 2,585 outstanding individuals, and 16 excellent provincial organizations and agencies, including Hubei Provincial S&T Bureau.
