The 10th National Science and Technology Week, themed at “Joining hands in building an innovative country”, kicked off on the morning of May 15th at the Capital Museum. Member of CPC Central Committee and State Councilor Liu Yandong, and Minister WAN Gang of MOST were present at the opening ceremony of the Week.

Over 1,000 people were present at the opening ceremony. Vice Minister Zhai Weihua of Central Propaganda Department chaired the event and Executive Vice Chairman Deng Nan of China Association for Science and Technology declared the opening of the Week. During the event, Minister WAN conferred the flag to the service team heading for Bazhong of Sichuan and Vice Minister LI Xueyong of MOST addressed the event on behalf of the organizing committee of the Week.

Leaders also gave awards to organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to science and technology popularization. During the week, innovation workshops and computer labs will be established in Bazhong and Yushu,

After the opening ceremony, State Councilor Liu and Minister WAN took part in science and technology demonstrative activities at the North Square of the Museum.
