On 14 June 2007, the expert teams for Energy-Saving and New Energy-based Automobiles Project under the 863 Program in the 11th Five-Year Period met in Beijing. Officials from MOST participated in the meeting, with Professor OUYANG Minggao of Tsinghua University as the president. Minister WAN Gang delivered a speech at the conference.
The experts discussed the proposals on development and management of the Energy-Saving and New Energy-based Automobiles Project and the focus in the later half of this year.
In his speech, Minister WAN Gang pointed out that the overall arrangement of the Energy-saving and New Energy-based Automobiles Project should attach importance to the synergy of production, learning and research, make breakthroughs of common key technologies and work closely with enterprises. It should bring into full play the various funds to promote industrialization of S&T result and enhance the study of standards and patents. In addition, he said, we should also reinforce publicity work and let more people understand and care for energy-saving and new energy-based automobiles.
