The “Key Technological Research on Industrializing the Compound Rare-Earth Tungsten Electrode (CRETE)” is a project under the 863 Program during the 10th Five-Year Period. Through the industry-education-academia synergy, it has lately developed a whole set of technologies with proprietary IPR, which enables the replacement of thorium tungsten electrode by CRETE.
Breakthroughs in key technologies have been made, such as material component, manufacturing techniques, equipment and testing facilities. The research has also realized efficient production, quality control and large scale production and supply of the new electrode.
