Recently, a conference was held in Jiangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences to discuss the implementation plan for “Study and Demonstration of Double-cropping Rice Technology Integration in the Middle Reaches of Yangtze River (Jiangxi)”, which is part of the National S&T Project for Grain Harvest during the 11th Five-Year Period.
The experts conducted in-depth discussion on the implementation plan and presented pertinent advice or proposals from their respective specialties. The proposals mainly relate to the reasonable adjustment of yield target, proper index for output, productivity and economic benefit, increasing physiological index and achieving harvest through cultivation technology.
The experts also offered the following advices: adding cultivation theory innovation to the topic study, such as how to achieve high ear-bearing rate, high seed setting rate and high utilization of fertilizer and water and how to realize the highest potential yield in different seasons; arranging more experiments to study the relationship between early senescence and variety, fertilizer, cultivation technology, plant diseases and insect pests and the farming system; increasing the regulation and control of physiological function at the intermediate and later stage and take into consideration of the relationship between early senescence and root system.
