The “2007 Workshop on Manufacturing Information Engineering (MIE)” was convened in Chengdu by the Department of High-tech Development and Industrialization (DHDI), MOST on September 27 to 28, 2007. Highly regarded by local S&T departments and experts, the meeting was attended by over 120 delegates and addressed by DG FENG Jichun of DHDI.

FENG summarized the progress of MIE since its launch last year, expressed the ministers’ wishes to develop MIE and put forward the working plan for the coming years.

By now, 31 provinces and autonomous regions have carried out demonstration projects on MIE and a nation-region-province linked organizing system has come into place, which helps mobilize the local agencies and ensure the implementation of MIE during the 11th Five-Year Period.
