The 2nd Forum for Advanced Manufacturing and Auto-making and the 2nd Young Scientist Forum of Jilin Province recently opened in Changchun.
The experts believed that the Chinese auto industry will follow the “542 Mode” (the 5th generation car body, the 4th generation chassis and the 2nd generation engine), which led to the rise of the Japanese and Korean auto industries. In other words, major changes of the automobile still lie in the car body. To vitalize the auto industry in China, efforts should be made, starting with the car body design and developing car molds with intellectual property right.
In 2005, China saw the ownership of motor vehicles climbing up to 31 million. Thus it is necessary to start considering junk car disposal and recovery. The government should guide the auto industry in the direction of energy efficiency, environmental protection and green production by making policy and technological arrangements.
