On November 10th of 2007, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Ocean Instruments and Equipment had its opening ceremony held in Qingdao City of Shandong Province. The base is the first of its kind in China.
Approved by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST, the base is managed by the Qingdao-based National Research Center of Ocean Sciences and supported by the Institute of Ocean Instruments and Equipment, Shandong Academy of Sciences.
Meeting national demands and in line with the international S&T development, Qingdao will go further to establish a national engineering center for ocean monitoring equipment that serves as a R&D and industrialization base. Those efforts aim at building the synergy of industry, education, and academia.
