From 13 to 14 November in 2007, co-hosted by MOST, the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Agriculture, the Meeting for S&T Extension Service Personnel to Exchange Experience was held in Liaocheng City of Shandong Province.

In line with requirements of the 17th National Congress of the CPC, this meeting aimed to summarize and exchange work experience of the S&T extension service personnel and develop the technical service system for rural China.

The system of S&T extension service personnel originated in Nanping of Fujian Province and in recent years has been developed into a new technical service model in rural China. This model complies with rules of the market economy, effectively meets the actual demand of farmers and is therefore well received by local governments and farmers.
