From November 7^th to 9^th, 2007, the 312^th session of the Xiangshan Science Conference convened at the Xiangshan Hotel in Beijing, with a theme of “New Frontiers of Algology”. Professor Fei Xiugeng from the Institute of Oceanography Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and researcher Liu Yongding from the CAS Institute of Hydrobiology made keynote speeches entitled “the History and Future of Algology in China” and “Phycophyta and the Sustainable Development of the Environment” respectively.

Experts participating in the conference pointed out that S&T workers in the field of algology in China should make their contribution to the basic research in algology, algological bio-technologies and the sustainable development of the algological industry.
