Funded by the special subject of new remote sensing technology in the field of earth observation and navigation technology under the State 863 program, the National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture (NERCITA) initiated the research on forecasting the quality of rice and wheat by remote sensing monitoring in China.

The preliminary application of the research in the main rice& wheat producing regions in Beijing, and the provinces of Heilongjiang, Henan and Jiangsu has attracted the attention from grain trading and processing enterprises, large grain farms and individual farmers with scale production. 

In the next step, the quality monitoring forecast software will be improved to form a technological product so as to expand its scope of application.
