The Sino-German cooperation project for mitigating the eutrophication in the Chaohu Lake was jointly undertaken by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Anhui Province and Germany’s Technische University Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig).
The first phase was successfully completed between January 2005 and May 2007, while the second phase was scheduled between June 2007 and May 2009. In the second half of 2007, the project proceeded with module correction and application, monitoring and analysis of experiment site. Relevant seminars and training workshops were also organized as planned, which promoted the theoretical and experimental research of the project.
Between 13th-20th November, 2007, the research personnel from Anhui Research Academy of Environmental Sciences in cooperation with their German colleagues, namely Dr Stephan Pflugmacher and Dr Jorge Nimptsch conducted on-site investigation at Chaohu Lake on the subjects of “Toxicity Analysis and the Experiment on Coexistence of Vegetations” and a “Semi Manual Biological Detoxification Filter”. The two sides also discussed their work plan for the research in 2008.
