On January 11th, 2008, the plaque presentation ceremony was held in Baoding, Hebei Province, as it was chosen as the State Demonstration City of Solar Energy Integrated Application and the State Renewable Energy Industrialization Base. Vice Minister CAO Jianlin and Vice Governor LONG Zhuangwei of Hebei Province attended the ceremony.

CAO pointed out in his speech that the development of renewable energy was a long term mission for the development of the human society and also an urgent issue confronting China. MOST would further intensify its support to innovation in renewable energy. He hoped that the Hebei province, the Baoding municipality and the Baoding National Hi-Tech Zone could firmly seize the opportunity and practically drive the implementation of various tasks so as to make greater contribution to the sustainable development of new energies in China.
