With vigorous support from the Department of International Cooperation of MOST and the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, the China-EU Symposium on Strategies for Scientific Cooperation and Development, another major event of the China-EU Science & Technology Year was held in Shanghai on February 1st, 2008. The event was jointly held by the Academy of Science and Technology Management of Tongji University and the DEMOS, a well-known British think tank.
Vice Minister WU Zhongze of MOST delivered a keynote speech titled Building an Innovative Country----China’s Historic Choice at the symposium.
Participants held that against the backdrop of globalization, the science and technology cooperation between the EU and China will enhance the innovation capacities of both sides and inject new impetus into national economies, for EU is an important power in the world’s economic and scientific arenas, and China is the largest developing country in the world.
