The Mid-term Evaluation Meeting on the Special Project on Major Infectious Diseases under the 973 Program was held in Beijing lately. The expert board evaluated 7 projects that were initiated during 2005 to 2006, including the Study on the Pathogenesis of Major Human Pathogens.
The evaluation concluded that those projects were well implemented over the past two years and tasks were fulfilled as scheduled. Significant progress has been made in the research areas of the distribution of hepatitis B virus genotypes and subgenotypes and the mechanism of T-cell mediated innate immunity.
