On Feb. 27th -28th, the 12th China-Japan Joint Commission Meeting on Science and Technology was held in Tokyo. Vice Minister CAO Jianlin, Ambassador MATSUI Yasuo for Science and Technology Cooperation from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Minister HAYASHI Yukihide from Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology co-chaired the meeting and signed on the minutes.
Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on the cutting-edge disciplines and industrial technologies as well as encourage the universities, research institutes and enterprises from the two countries to step up their collaboration. They also agreed to organize a forum with the participation of the three branches at the earliest convenience.
The two parties confirmed 106 cooperation projects during the JCM, a big increase from their last meeting. Among them, 68 were in the field of nanotechnology, environment protection and climate change and medical treatment.
