A working meeting on S&T insurance was held in Beijing on March 27, 2008. Since the pilot work started, MOST and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC)have adopted a wide variety of measures to promote innovation in S&T insurance. The aim is to provide better insurance services to hi-tech enterprises so as to substantially develop their innovativeness. The pilot work has scored achievements. In 2007 the total premium of S&T insurance paid by over 1,100 hi-tech enterprises amounted to RMB 1.587 billion with an insured sum of more than RMB 68.5 billion.

The meeting summarized the pilot work and delegates from pilot cities and insurance agencies exchanged views.
