MOST held a seminar on deep ocean hi-tech development in Beijing on April 8th of 2008 to solicit opinions and suggestions from experts.

Listening to experts' views and comments, Vice Minister LIU Yanhua pointed out that MOST would take active steps to develop deep ocean high technology. More efforts would be made in the comprehensive planning on research and development, the building of R&D capacities, international cooperation, and the study on R&D systems and mechanisms for feasible measures that developed investment channels, encouraged joint development and sharing, and facilitated enterprises’ participation.
