Recently, the program on compiling a digital atlas of China’s agro-climatic resources, a basic S&T task under MOST and presided over by the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), was officially kick-started.
China compiled and published the Atlas of China’s Agro-climatic Resources in 1984. However, the spatial distribution of agro-climatic resources has gone through great changes as a result of global warming. Therefore, the new atlas will contribute to efficient utilization of agro-climatic resources and improvement of disaster prevention and mitigation in agriculture.
