On May 22, 2008, Vice Minister SHANG Yong and Dr. Luz Maria De La Mora, Director-General of the International Cooperation Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, co-chaired the science and technology section of the preparatory meeting of the 3rd China-Mexico intergovernmental standing committee meeting. The two parties exchanged views on current S&T cooperation as well as future collaboration areas and ways.
SHANG noted that China and Mexico, the two developing countries, are complementary to each other and boost large room for S&T exchange. Both countries should make full use of the current mechanisms to mobilize respective advantages and fulfill cooperation intentions so as to substantially expedite the joint efforts in science and technology.
Dr. Mora expressed that the Mexican government is willing to join hands with China for substantial S&T achievements, thus promoting economic development of both countries and improving the living standard of the two peoples.
