The China National Center for Biotechnology Development (CNCBD) convened a workshop on scientific innovativeness for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) lately, which marked the official launch of the study on the innovation capability of science and technology (S&T) related to TCM.
CNCBD Deputy Director General AN Daochang held that given the immense potential for innovation in the TCM-related S&T, it was necessary to pinpoint the key technical issues. Academician WANG Yongyan proposed that when it came to innovativeness of this kind, the focus should be on human resources and academic disciplines, and the core issue of TCM was quality control. Academician ZHANG Boli believed that the strategic study should center on scientific innovation, demonstrate the current features and strengths of TCM, and identify existing problems and deficiencies. It was also essential to outline the priority and objective for TCM development.
Experts at the meeting agreed on the significance of the study and contributed ideas and suggestions.
