On June 9th, the Institute of Physics, CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) marked its 80th anniversary in its lecture hall. The ceremony was attended by famous scholars, academicians and professors in the physics community from both home and abroad, including Yang Zhenning, Zhou Guangzhao, Chen Jia’er and Zhao Zhongxian, and officials from MOST, CAS and NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China). Vice Minister CAO Jianlin addressed the ceremony.

CAO fully confirmed the achievements made by IoP and encouraged the researchers to make further progress in basic research so as to play a bigger role in the building of national innovation system. Exhibitions and lectures were also organized and a cooperation agreement between the institute and Taiwan Institute of Physics was signed during the celebrations.
