On June 23 of 2008, Minister WAN Gang met with President David W. Leebron of the Rice University. WAN introduced the MOST-led campaign---China’s Scientific and Technological Actions on Climate Change, China’s efforts to cut energy use and emissions, new and renewable energy development, response to climate change, as well as Sichuan earthquake relief.

President Leebron expressed sympathy for earthquake victims and appraised the efficient and orderly work of the Chinese government in relief and reconstruction. He also briefed on the donations made by Chinese students in Rice University and other overseas Chinese in Houston.
