On the afternoon of 2 July 2008, the Sino-French Joint Laboratory of Information, Automation and Applied Mathematics(LIAMA)under Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences held an unveiling ceremony for its State-level International Joint Research Center.
In his address, Vice Minister SHANG Yong extended warm congratulations to the establishment of the Joint Research Center and the achievements of LIAMA in emerging interdisciplinary fields such as information and automation over the past 11 years.
SHANG also expressed his hope that the French Government should step up its support for cooperation in this field so that the Joint Research Center can contribute more to the S&T cooperation and exchanges between China and France and even between China and EU.
Herve Ladsous, French Ambassador to China, MA Songde, former Vice Minister of MOST and former Director of LIAMA on the Chinese side, and TAN Tieniu, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) also extended congratulations on LIAMA for its achievements, expressing their wish that LIAMA should make greater progress in its future development and serve as a bridge for the S&T exchanges between China and France and between China and EU at large.
