Breakthroughs have been made in the research on prevention and control technologies against major diseases and pests for the three main crops in key production regions in China. As part of the “grain harvest through S&T” initiative organized by MOST, the research studies virulence variation supervision for rice, wheat and corn. It has developed efficient machinery for plant protection and key supporting technologies. Demonstration bases were built in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, Northeast China, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the Chengdu Plain.
Over the past two years, the research has been the teamwork of 75 researchers from 11 institutes, training 5 doctors and 19 postgraduates. Achievements include 2 state granted patents, 5 industrial standards, and 43 pieces of published papers.
