On July 16th, Vice Minister SHANG Yong met with the China-based R&D Directors from over 20 transnational companies, including Microsoft China R&D Group and IBM China Research Lab.

SHANG noted that the Chinese government will unswervingly endeavor to deepen its reform and opening up, optimize investment, stimulate innovation and protect the environment. The ever increasing R&D activities of transnational companies have not only facilitated their own development and optimized the industrial chain, but also brought advanced technologies, valuable managerial expertise and the innovation culture to China, which has helped enhance China’s innovativeness.

The foreign company officers expressed their willingness to further their joint efforts with Chinese research institutes and enterprises so as to achieve win-win collaboration through innovation. They also put forward constructive suggestions on strengthening cooperation and participating in the national science programs of China.
