On July 17th, the world’s first laser cinema, with support from the Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization of MOST and Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, was jointly unveiled by Phoebus Vision, the Institute of Optics and Electronics of CAS and UME International Cineplex. CAO Jianlin, Vice-Minister of MOST, addressed the ceremony.

CAO noted that as a pillar sector, the display industry requires multi-disciplinary integration and drives the development of the whole electronic information industry.

The launch of the cinema has demonstrated our mastery of core technologies of next-generation display equipment. This can help China shake off dependence on import in this sector, promote upgrading of the electronic information industry and industrial mix, and facilitate transformation of economic growth pattern.
