To summarize the experiences and major achievements of the Torch Program over the past two decades and address emerging problems during its implementation, a panel set up by MOST held meetings in Beijing and Xi’an on July 2 and July 24respectively.
Participants hold that over the past 20 years, the Torch Program has been driving the fast development of China’s hi-tech industry, as evidenced by gigantic progress seen in the electronic information, new energy, bio-pharmaceuticals, new materials and environmental protection among others.
