Vice Minister CAO Jianlin addressed the inauguration ceremony of the National Industrialization Base for LED Technology in Yangzhou on July 29, 2008.

According to CAO, to develop LED technology is outlined in the national medium and long-term S&T development plan. This technology will significantly energize hi-tech development; facilitate the reform on traditional industries, cut energy use and emissions, and help build a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society. The Yangzhou base is expected to forge a synergy with the other 6 LED bases across the nation so as to pool human resources, integrate technologies, build industrial clusters, bring technologies to the people and provide momentum to the LED technology and industry.
