Mme. CHEN Zhili, head of the Beijing Olympic Village, received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold award in Beijing on August 13, 2008 presented by the US Green Building Council. On behalf of the council, US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson honored the award to CHEN, who is also Vice President of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG) and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
CHEN and Paulson held talks at the Olympic Village before addressing the award ceremony. The aim of the award is to commend the Olympic Village for promoting “Green Olympics”, and the teamwork between China and the US in this field within the framework of the Strategic Economic Dialogue.
Vice Minister SHANG Yong of MOST and Assistant Minister ZHU Guangyao of the Ministry of Finance attended the events.
