On October 24th of 2008, Vice-Minister DU Zhanyuan met with Prof. John Spotila, president of Global CAUSE Foundation, and Dr. Neal Lane, US president of Council of Science Advisory. The two exchanged opinions on a variety of issues including how to tackle climate change.
According to DU, China has always attached great importance to climate change and adopted a series of favorable policies for mitigating GHG emission. He also introduced the technologies of energy conservation and emissions reduction adopted during Beijing Olympics and the effective results.
President Spotila expressed that US Global CAUSE Foundation would like to cooperate with China in resources and talents through strategic policies and specific fields to boost awarness of climate change and environmental protection among the young, and promote energy conservation and emissions reduction technologies, so as to enhance mutual understanding and deepen friendship between the two peoples.
