Nature Magazine published “the Diploid genome sequence of an Asian Individual” on November 6th of 2008, which was jointly accomplished by BGI-Shenzhen and their partners, a significant achievement of basic research in China’s life science.

The project was greatly supported by some national S&T programs, such as the 973 Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and local governments. The scientific discovery will have a fundamental impact on the methods of disease forecast, early warning, prevention and treatment, promoting the development of a new pattern of individualized health care.
