Recently, the Department of Social Development of MOST held the 2008 Seminar on Serving Social Development with S&T. Deputy Director General YANG Zhe reviewed the progress in 2008 and briefed on the priorities in 2009. Officials from local S&T departments also actively introduced the major achievements, and offered suggestions on improving people’s livelihood with S&T and enhancing communication on social progress.

Director General MA Yanhe fully acknowledged the path-breaking work in different localities and showed that the Department of Social Development would actively promote “S&T for People’s Livelihood” and strengthen vertical interaction in the field of social development through regional meetings.
