On March 2 of 2009, Minister Wan Gang of Science and Technology had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Ryoji Noyori, President of RIKEN and the Nobel laureate in chemistry.
Before the meeting, Vice Minister Du Zhanyuan held talks with Mr. Ryoji Noyori. Du extended his welcome to Ryoji Noyori and appreciated the help provided by the Japanese government and people during the Wenchuan Earthquake last year. Both sides exchanged opinions on China-Japan S&T cooperations as well as on how to cope with the financial crisis by relying on science and technology.
Mr. Ryoji Noyori gave a brief introduction to RIKEN. He says RIKEN maintains good cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and many other Chinese research institutes. With a very close tie having been forged between RIKEN and MOST, he hopes the joint efforts in science and technology would be more productive in the future.
