At the invitation of the organizing committee of International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM2010), Prof. PENG Shige from School of Mathematics of Shandong University, who is also chief scientist of the major project “the Quantitative Analysis and Computation in Financial Risk Control” under the 973 Program, will deliver a one-hour speech on the congress. He’s the first full-time mathematician in mainland China to be invited to address the highest-level international mathematics meeting. It demonstrates the recognition of Chinese research in the field of mathematics by the international mathematical community, representing a step in the rise of China’s mathematics.
