Vice Minister LIU Yanhua met with Mrs. Monique Barbut, Chairperson of Global Environmental Facility (GEF) on May 20th, 2009.
LIU highlighted clean coal technology in China’s efforts to develop clean energy and improve the energy mix. As for climate change, LIU said developed countries shall follow through their commitments of technology transfer. The Chinese government is hosting expert discussions before identifying a list of needed technologies. He hoped the GEF would play a role in promoting international technology transfer.
Mrs. Monique Barbut said the GEF planned to establish a globally-shared database on climate change. Vice Minister LIU endorsed the idea and expressed China’s willingness to contribute to the initiative.
