On the morning of May 29th of 2009, the Inaugural Meeting of Taizhou State Pharmaceutical Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone was held in Taizhou, Jiangsu province. LI Xueyong, Party Secretary and Vice-Minister of Science and Technology, Vice-Minister DU Zhanyuan, LIANG Baohua, Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of CPC, LUO Zhijun, Governor of Jiangsu Province,  Deputy Governor CAO Weixing, Liu Qian, Vice-Minister of Health, attended the event. Vice-Minister DU announced the Decision of State Council to Agree upon the upgrading of Taizhou Hi-Tech Industrial Park to State Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. On behalf of the provincial party committee and the government of Jiangsu, Governor LUO Zhijun addressed the event. LI Xueyong and Liang Baohua inaugurated the development zone.

The zone has persisted in institutional innovation, brought together a group of pharmaceutical hi-tech enterprises, innovators and entrepreneurs, and built a platform for pharmaceutical S&T innovation and commercialization, building itself into a pharmaceutical industry innovation base with unique features.
