On May 24th of 2009, the Second Trilateral China-Japan-Korea Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation was held in Tokyo, Japan. WAN Gang,Minister of Science and Technology of China, SHIONOYA Ryu,Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan, AHN Byong-Man,Minister of Education, Science and Technology of ROK headed delegations to attend the event.
The ministerial discussion was focused on jointly tackling regional and global issues including climate change, developing new and renewable energies, and green technologies. The meeting decided to initiate trilateral joint research program, in a bid to support the researchers in the three countries to carry out substantive research cooperation. And the three countries would hold seminar youth researchers on a rotating basis in an effort to facilitate their exchanges. The three sides signed documents at the meeting, including the Joint Declaration of the Second Trilateral China-Japan-Korea Ministerial Meeting on S&T Cooperation, the Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Research Program, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Science Exchanges and Dissemination.
