The 7th China Cross-Strait Technology and Projects Fair opened in Fuzhou between June 18th and 20th of 2009. The event was jointly sponsored by 16 departments including MOST, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. Participants of the Opening Ceremony included LIU Yandong, Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, CHEN Zhili, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, ZHOU Ji, Minister of Education, LI Xueyong, Party Secretary and Vice Minister of MOST, LU Zhangong, Party Secretary of Fujian Province, and LIANG Qiping, Chairman of the Fujian Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The Fair highlighted the theme of “Project-Technology-Capital-Professional”. The aim was to attract domestic and foreign S&T achievements to Fujian enterprises, and translate S&T achievements into productivity. The 3-day event attracted over 120,000 people from all fields, and solicited over 7000 proposals of project accomplishments and technology demands. Those proposals were collected to matchmake partners in the fields of modern agriculture, agri-product deep processing, electronic information, biology and medicine, new materials, machinery and equipment, energy conservation and emissions reduction, and resource comprehensive utilization.
