CAO Jianlin, Vice Minister of MOST, led a group from the Department of Basic Research to Tongji University of Shanghai.

CAO first visited the State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering (SLDRCE), listened to the reports on the research progress made on the major state engineering projects and bridge engineering, etc, especially concerning the earthquake-proofness and wind-proofness, steel structure and underground works of long-span bridges, and the important research devices developed by the Laboratory. CAO also proposed his suggestions on the improvement of the administration of the 973 Program, and the management of the submission of major projects and main projects.
