The first meeting of China-EU Information & Communication Technologies Dialogue was held on July 10th in Beijing. Mr. CAO Jianlin, Vice Minister of MOST, and Mr. Fabio Colasanti, Director-General for Information Society and Media of EU co-chaired the meeting.
Both sides agreed to bring into play the role of the dialogues mechanism in tackling economic crisis, and foster a host of emerging industries in the field of information to provide new impetus to the global economy.
The meeting discussed the priorities in the future China-EU ICT cooperation, including future internet, future telecommunications, high performance computing, IPV6, high-speed research connectivity, among others. The two sides also explored the prospects of cooperation in RFID, internet of things, and complex modeling. Both sides said that they would use 2010 Shanghai World Expo as a platform to demonstrate the huge cooperation potential in ICT field, based on the successful cooperation of China-EU digital Olympics.
