On July 31, CPPCC Vice Chairman and Minister of MOST WAN Gang visited National Center of Broadband Network and Applied Engineering Research together with Vice Minister of MOST DU Zhanyuan. Accompanied by the Vice Mayor of Shanghai SHEN Xiaoming and Deputy Secretary-General WENG Tiehui, Minister WAN surveyed the exhibition center of interactive televisions and the triple-play (telecommunication network, Internet, and television network) demonstration, and listened to the introductions on implementation of major national projects like 3Tnet, National Network Testbed, and involvement in the construction of Next Generation Broadcasting (NGB) by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.

During the visit, the Minister pointed out that as Shanghai takes the lead in building NGB to deliver a better World Expo, it should broaden the application of indigenous 3Tnet. Shanghai should also formulate relevant standards, and widen its service scope and application.
