The Ninth China-Japan-Korea Pan-Yellow Sea Economic and Technological Conference was held in Yantai City, Shangdong Province from July 14 to 16, 2009. The event was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Commerce, the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy of ROK. Over 700 participants from government departments, research institutes, economic groups, enterprises, and universities of the three countries attended the event. Counselor WANG Qiming of the Department of International Cooperation of MOST addressed the conference and HE Wenping, Deputy Director of China Science and Technology Center made concluding remarks.
The theme of the conference is “promoting trade and investment, S&T exchanges, and cooperation in education and talents in the pan-Yellow Sea region”. Representatives from the three countries proposed suggestions in facilitating energy conservation and environmental protection, S&T development, trade and investment, logistics, among other topics. On the sidelines of the conference, a host of events were held, such as tripartite meeting for managing directors, Business Forum, S&T Forum, Forum of University Presidents, Forum of Harbor Traffic and Logistics, Chinese commodities fair, service outsourcing seminar, technology exhibitions, and industry inspection.
